In comparison to our Tunisian Patchouli, this one is lighter, brighter and sharper, while the Tunisian Patchouli is deeper, darker, and smoother. Both have a lot to offer and Patchouli lovers will fall in love with both.
Patchouli is a highly aromatic plant that belongs to the mint family. The scent of patchouli is often described as earthy, woody, and musky, with hints of sweetness and spice. It's distinct aroma can be quite polarizing, with some people finding it alluring and others finding it overwhelming!
Patchouli Essential Oil is derived from the leaves of the patchouli plant through a process of steam distillation. The resulting product has a dark amber or brownish color and a thick, viscous consistency.
Its rich, earthy fragrance is often associated with relaxation, grounding, and sensuality. It is commonly used as a base note in perfumes, blending well with other essential oils such as lavender, bergamot, sandalwood, and vetiver.
Historically, patchouli essential oil was used for its medicinal properties and as a natural insect repellent. The leaves were often used in traditional medicine preparations, poultices, and herbal remedies.
Oil of Patchouli's aromatic qualities eventually led to its use in perfumery. Its distinct scent became popular in India, where it was used to scent fabrics, repel moths, and mask unpleasant odors. Indian Patchouli's fragrance gained widespread recognition in the Western world during the 19th century when it was imported to Europe and became a key ingredient in perfumes, particularly during the Victorian era.
Patchouli is harvested for its leaves, which are steam distilled resulting in wonderful patchouli essential oil!
We hope you enjoy this beautiful essence! As with all essential oils do not take internally. Keep away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body to see if an irritation would develop.
